The Tree of Life

So, in my earlier post I talked about ideas for products that could be sold online and, as promised, I am writing this article to explore more thoroughly the concept of selling coconut products online.

Unlike many other natural products, the ENTIRE coconut can be utilized and this, surely, is a money making no brainer? Sanskrit for coconut palm is Kalpa Vriksha, which translates to ‘the tree that gives all that is necessary for life’ or, more simply put, ‘the tree of life’ and that is because it literally does just this. All parts of the coconut can be used: the water, the milk, the flesh, the sugar, the oil and the husks.

Coconut water, milk and oil are the hottest health product to make the news since goji berries and kale.  Coconut water is full of electrolytes and is therefore more hydrating than water itself! The oil is much better for cooking with than many vegetable oils because its health properties are not destroyed in the heating process. And coconut milk, containing no dairy, is a much healthier alternative for those who are lactose intolerant (which is actually most of us, if not all).

It doesn’t stop there! The flesh can be dried and sold as desiccated coconut or as a sweetened snack.  And, finally, the fiber in the husks , known as coir, is perfect for making an extremely durable, breathable, hard-wearing and environmentally friendly fabric that is being used for furnishings and clothing. An exceptional fact to note about coconut coir is that it is the only fiber that is resistant to salt water.  I am sure that one day, in the not too distant future, coir clothing will be for sale in major retail outlets.  I can’t think of a better product to sell, in its entirety, online. Thanks for reading and check back soon for more tips and ideas.
